As a local and family run business, we have strong ties to our community and like to do what we can to support local and national charities.  Whether we’re part of a high profile event or helping our staff raise money wearing silly clothes and wigs, drinking coffee and eating copious amounts of cake, then we love to get involved!  It’s great to support these causes and it brings our Anglia Freight teams together for a bit of team building with a smile!  Here are some of the good causes we’re supporting in 2023.

We’re proud to be supporting our very own Danielle Jones as she takes part in Women V Cancer – Ride the Night.

Danielle is one of thousands of women cycling through London on Saturday 5th May and Saturday 26th May 2018, raising vital funds for an important cause.

Part of the Women V Cancer series, this unique event supports Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action, and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. The 100km route takes riders past some of London’s most iconic landmarks, including Buckingham Palace and the London Eye.

Danielle shares that cancer can affect anyone — a friend, a colleague, or a family member — and she wanted to do something meaningful to help. Alongside the challenge itself, she is aiming to raise £250 for these vital causes.

Training three times a week and covering nearly 50 miles, Danielle has embraced the journey as much as the goal. For her, it’s not about speed, but about enjoying the experience, taking in the scenery, and sharing the moment with others.

East Coast Truckers

East Coast Truckers is a registered charity dedicated to creating memorable experiences for disabled and disadvantaged children aged between 5 and 16 across East Anglia. Alongside their much-loved annual events, they also provide essential equipment and offer free holidays for families, delivering meaningful support where it’s needed most.

It’s a fantastic cause that we’re proud to have supported for several years. Each August Bank Holiday Sunday, the charity organises an incredible road run featuring around 80 trucks of all shapes, sizes and colours. Each cab carries a child and their carer on a special journey to Pleasurewood Hills, where they can enjoy a full day of fun, entertainment and unforgettable experiences.

The convoy itself is a real spectacle, filled with cheers, excitement and the unmistakable sound of honking horns along the route. Every year, one of our Anglia Freight trucks proudly takes part, driven by our very own Paul Ready, helping to create a day that means so much to so many families.

Every day, our vehicles travel through Eye and the surrounding areas, becoming a familiar sight to pupils and their families. With that visibility comes a responsibility, and we wanted to ensure that local children understand the importance of staying safe around moving vehicles.

In 2022, Anglia Freight became proud sponsors of Kids Safe. As part of this initiative, we provided 20 sets of safety board games to a local school, helping to bring road safety awareness into the classroom in an engaging and interactive way.

Our team also took part in a dedicated road safety assembly, sharing insight into how Anglia Freight staff stay safe in their day-to-day roles, along with practical advice to help children stay safe when out and about.

We’re delighted to be continuing our support this year, reinforcing our commitment to keeping our communities safe.

Supporting community initiatives is a key part of Anglia Freight’s ethos, and we were delighted to help Kirkley & Pakefield Football Club

secure their very first team kit. The club has strong ties to our team, with children from Anglia Freight families playing, and one of our drivers stepping in to make a real difference.

When the previous manager had to step down at the start of the season, our driver Stuart Gough volunteered to take on the role rather than see the team fold. He now leads weekly training sessions and supports the team through weekend matches, ensuring the players can continue to enjoy the game, build confidence and develop valuable teamwork skills.

Behind the scenes, Stuart’s wife, Sarah Gough, played a vital role in organising equipment for the team. At the time, the players were wearing borrowed shirts, so she set out to find sponsorship to provide a proper kit.

We were proud to support this effort. Having their own strip has helped bring the team together, creating a strong sense of identity, pride and motivation. With performances already improving, we’re excited to see what the future holds—perhaps even a trip to Wembley one day.
